Gov. Rick Perry says he and Texas legislative leaders will work together in the 2009 session to come up with long-term transportation funding solutions.
Among the ideas he talked up Tuesday with the Associated General Contractors of Texas was ending the gas tax diversion for funding the Texas Department of Public Safety. He says that amounts to $1.2 billion in every two-year budget cycle and that the money is needed for road projects.
