People in parts of western Travis County and northern Hays County are being asked to conserve water.
The Lower Colorado River Authority is asking customers of the West Travis County Regional Water System to cut back after an equipment problem.
“We are asking all customers to eliminate non-essential water use immediately to help ensure enough water for essential uses until the repair can be made later this evening,” Emlea Chanslor, LCRA spokesperson said in a news release.
The affected area includes residents in Bee Cave and other communities along Texas 71 and RR 620; and Dripping Springs, along with developments on US 290.

Lost Truffle Farm Remembered
From KXAN, November 26, 2008...
In 1989, Francois Picart was on the verge of making Dripping Springs history. Picart had worked for a decade to create several orchards of oak and hazelnut trees. He nurtured the trees through freeze and drought. He fought off insects and small mammals. Why, you ask, would he do that? He would do that because in France, the roots of such trees do some nurturing of their own. They nurture truffles, those rare black fungi that chefs and connoisseurs so treasure for their taste and aroma. The truffles can bring hundreds of dollars per pound, thus, their nickname: Black diamonds.
But why Dripping Springs? Well, it turns out that the climate, geology and topography of the Central Texas hill country is quite similar to the truffle regions of France and Picart took a notion to set up shop there. He wanted to domesticate and farm what in his home country, grows wild.

Los Madrones ranch in Hill Country is ultimate studio for nature photos
From Dallas Morning News, July 28, 2008...
DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas – It's the very picture of feathered frustration: a black-chinned hummingbird hovering impatiently over Mike Murphy's right shoulder.
Mr. Murphy is a bit too close to the hummer's lunch. The tiny creature darts toward the nectar-filled feeder, loses its nerve and retreats to nearby shrubs, then tries again a few seconds later.
Mr. Murphy is troweling "critter food" – a mixture of peanut butter, lard and cornmeal – onto a log. When he finishes and moves to another log, the black-chin zooms over to the nectar feeder. Before you can say, "Soup's on," that one and two others are divebombing one another to get to the sugar water.
