From Austin City Connection, September 1, 2008...
The public is invited to attend any of the following meetings to learn about and provide input on the streetcar proposal. The meetings will be organized around the three major segments of the proposed system: the segment along Riverside Drive to ABIA; the segment through the central business district, including the State capitol complex; and the segment that would serve UT, Manor Road, and Mueller. There will be two meetings focusing on each of the segments and the content of each corridor-specific meeting will be the same. After the six meetings, the team will conduct a "Town Hall" type meeting at which we will present a summary of the public input provided to date and receive additional public comment

Streetcar: The Work Plan
From Austin Chronicle, August 15, 2008...
It's full steam ahead! In an Aug. 8 memo to City Council, new Assistant City Manager Sue Edwards laid out an ambitious work plan for developing a full proposal for an urban rail streetcar system. The work plan is based on the system recommended by the ROMA Austin consultant team, presented at council July 24 (see "Developing Stories," Aug. 1). $600 million streetcar plan offered for Austin
From statesman.com, July 25, 2008...

The proposal, similar in many respects to downtown rail plans that have been circulating for about three years, remains well short of a finished product. And the proposal lacks what is perhaps the most critical information: how the city or Capital Metro, or some entity to be named later, would pay for it.
