No one seemed to care about the dust, hot temperatures or minimal shade as they gathered at the future site of the Cedar Park Event Center for the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday. For a project that has been long-awaited by many, the air was bursting with excitement as the first dirt was shoveled.
After failed attempts in the past to bring a similar facility to the city, everyone was hopeful and excited that the day finally arrived and that the project was becoming a reality. “How sweet it is to be here today,” said Cedar Park Mayor Bob Lemon, who noted it has been years in the making.
