BCRUA seeks land for intake

The Jackson Street neighborhood of Volente is now the preferred site for a deep-water intake facility, part of a $350 million project that would let Cedar Park, Leander and Round Rock draw more water from Lake Travis. A year ago, the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) considered the Booth Circle neighborhood of Volente to be the best site.

The BCRUA board voted Tuesday, May 27, to authorize General Manager Chris Lippe to take actions necessary to acquire the intake site. The decision followed a presentation of a site study by Engineer Drew Hardin, P.E., of Jacobs Carter Burgess. Hardin made similar presentations at the Cedar Park and Round Rock city council meetings on May 22.
