Austin to San Antonio on Amtrak?

From the print edition of the Austin Business Journal, May 16, 2008...

The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is allocating $8 million to the Texas Department of Transportation and the Austin-San Antonio Intermunicipal Rail District to study what improvements need to be made to the existing Union Pacific freight line to concurrently run a regional rail and what, if any, involvement Amtrak could take.
