The Cedar Park and Leander police departments each earned national recognition for their participation in National Night Out, which took place four months ago.Cedar Park earned second place in Texas and fifth place overall for cities with populations between 15,000 and 49,999. Leander was number 33 in the same category.
“We're very proud of the Cedar Park Police Department and the Cedar Park community, because it truly is a community award,” said Chief Henry Fluck of the CPPD. This is the sixth consecutive year Cedar Park has been recognized.
The winners were chosen by the National Association of Town Watch out of hundreds of applicants and 52 cities were recognized in the category 4 population range. Each city will receive a plaque, but the main benefit of the award is recognition for a job well done, according to Luana Wilcox of the Leander PD.
