It's considered by many to be the heart of Texas.
Enchanted Rock is an impressive geological feature with an estimated age of 1 billion years, making it among the oldest exposed rock in North America. Coupled with its impressive geological history, Enchanted Rock also has an extensive archaeological history; the site figures prominently in several Indian legends. According to park staff, Native Americans were inspired by it and they thought it was inhabited by spirits.
