The Texas Archive of the Moving Image is collecting everything from home movies, to government films and educational movies. Starting this weekend, anyone can get their films digitized for free.
"We will create for the public free DVD copies, as long as they are willing to contribute a digital copy for our online library which everyone can share," said Caroline Frick, the executive director of the Texas Archive of the Moving Image.
Frick started the Texas Archive of the Moving Image in 2002 and has collected thousands of films. The earliest is shot in 1911, and the goal is to preserve Texas film.
