Electricity rates skyrocket for many Texans

Electric prices in Texas are sparking a charged debate -- 10 years after the state deregulated the electric market. Lawmakers just received a report that says Texas rates are higher than any other state with that kind of open competition.

That report says residential electric prices rose 64 percent from the time of deregulation in 1999 to 2007. Critics say that data isn't current and tell us Texans can pay less now than they did a decade ago.
