Recent rainfall has relieved San Marcos Springs from a spell of critical water levels, but the drought's effects have become ever more apparent.
Just below Spring Lake, water levels are down 1 foot, causing the endangered Texas Wild-rice, a perennial grass, to lose some prime habitat.
