The Austin City Council postponed a decision on a zoning change for a proposed 265-acre mixed-use development in the Barton Springs recharge zone, the Wildflower Commons, to Aug. 20.
The vote to postpone was 6-1 per a motion from City Council Member Mike Martinez, with Council Member Laura Morrison voting no to postponement.
The project's developer, Bill Walters, is seeking a zoning change from single family and general office to planned unit development zoning, which allows the most diverse uses under code. The proposed development, at SH 45 and MoPac Expressway near the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in the Circle C area, is subject to the Bradley Agreement, and proposes roughly 550 residential units and 600,000 square feet of office and retail.
