A tract in Bastrop long slated to hold more than 1 million square feet of retail may have a different future.
Houston-based Weingarten Realty, which in May optioned 147 acres at the corner of State Highway 71 and County Road 304, has backed out of its contract, landowner Tom Brundage said. The land is still on the market, but Brundage is not pursuing potential retail buyers in the near future.
