Travis County gets first salmonella case from tomatoes

The Department of State Health Services has confirmed a case of salmonella linked to tainted tomatoes in Travis County, bringing the total number of confirmed salmonella cases in Texas to 35 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The health department reported four cases in Hays County and one in Bell County, with other cases in Cameron, Dallas, Fort Bend, Harris, Jim Wells, Nueces, San Patricio and Tarrant counties.

No deaths have been reported in the outbreak, which began in mid-April and spans 11 states.
