Austin area gains jobs at 2.7 percent annual rate in April, down from 5.4 percent last year

The job growth engine that has been keeping the Central Texas economy strong is losing steam.

The region gained jobs at a 2.7 percent annual rate in April, down from 5.4 percent a year ago, the Texas Workforce Commission said today.
