LBJ helped create the Pedernales Electric Cooperative to electrify the Texas Hill Country. Based in Johnson City, it now has 220,000 customers and $500 million in annual revenues.
It is stunning to see how the PEC has metastasized from a noble vision 70 years ago to a symbol of management self-indulgence and defensiveness and failed fiduciary obligations.
