Georgetown Sued Over Protest Ordinance

The Texas Civil Rights Project has sued the City of Georgetown in federal court, alleging the city's ordinances regulating demonstrations is unconstitutional, an attorney for the group said today.

A small group of demonstrators gathered on the sidewalk in front of the City Council chambers Jan. 8 to protest the council's efforts to write a policy that would require anyone doing business with the city to prove that they do not hire illegal immigrants.
